Wedding

Thanks for visiting our little corner of the web. We hope you’ll join us on 28 May 2025 to help celebrate our big day.

It’s a love story…

I don’t think you can call it a “first date” more like a “first shift??”… The happy couple met when Emily and her bestie Georgie were poor students in their final year at Bournemouth Uni and needed some extra cash for their Tequila fund. Georgie (the bestie, AKA moh) managed to get the ultimate student job…. A club promotor! But not just for ‘any’ club may I add… a club promotor for the most glamorous, the most prestigious, the club of all clubs… ahh who am I kidding... It was Walkabout… a rundown pub ‘wannabe’ club.

I’m sure our readers want to know is what does this have to do with James and Emily meeting? Well, James was in fact the Event Manager for the promotion company and even though some people say Emily was just chasing the pay rise to £10/h, I like to think she maybe had a little ‘thing’ for said Event Manager. To cut a long story short, James and Emily played this whole “will they won’t they” thing and “we’re just friends” was their favourite saying... All their friends found it very tiring to be honest with you.

One of the biggest moments in James and Emily’s “friendship…” was when James introduced Emily to his Brighton Uni friends. In-fact, I think Emily is still traumatised to this day as the first time she encountered Jack and Nic (Groomsmen 1 & 2) was when they fumbled into James and Emily’s room at 4am slurring something along the lines of “I’ve heard a lot about you”… but never the less, it didn’t put her off and in-fact led to Emily moving to Brighton and getting her first ever big girl job after she graduated Bournemouth Uni.

James and Emily finally admitted that they did actually really like each other, which was a good thing really as they moved into their first flat together along with their buddy Rich (who strangely knew Georgie, but that’s a whole other story…). They then moved into their first home in Shoreham-by- Sea in mid-2019, which I think at this point James was in his 14th year of Uni?? Can’t remember… Anyway, by this point they were well into their relationship and James had many pleasures meeting Emily’s pals back in B’stoke (shout out to bridesmaid 3, Katie) and the many, many, many family members including Emily’s beautiful bridesmaids 1 & 2, Abi and Liv. Whereas, on the opposite side of the spectrum you have James being the only child of the lovely Joe and Debs. However, although James is technically an only child, he does have to share the love from his mother with what they like to call ‘Debbie’s surrogate son’, Ciaran (AKA best man).

Anywho, enough about everyone else… Carrying on to 2020, which I think if I remember rightly, there was big global pandemic which forced the whole world to shut down, people to line up outside supermarkets and stand outside your house and clap every night?? Yeaaaah… It was a bit doom and gloom for everyone. However, it was this special year for James and Emily as they expanded their family… They got a Whinnie! The couple still aren’t entirely sure what a Whinnie is but to describe her best; she is a mixture of chihuahua, sheepdog and a weasel cross with a worm. If you know Whinnie, you know she’s a bit of a maniac, VERY loud and sassy. But she is perfect (like her mother).

A year on, the couple make the biggest decision to up and move their whole life to Plymouth (much to the parents of the brides disgust as Emily was of course their favourite child amongst their four children). However, it only made the couple and family stronger. They managed to buy their first home and build so many new memories and friendships. For those who don’t know, James is originally from Plymouth and was so excited to rekindle his friendships with his school friends (shout out grooms men 3 & 4). Although now thinking about it, Cooper was deployed at sea and Harry decided to join the RAF and move to High Wycombe…. I’m sure its nothing personal, just a coincidence…. It was also at this time that Emily became besties with Emily King (bridesmaid number 4) who took Emily under her wing to show her where all the coolest bars are in Plymouth.

The couple’s life was pretty sweet at this point. Everything was fine. Well, it was fine until Emily decided to ruin everything by bringing home ‘a friend for Whinnie’…. Bruce. Bruce is a mixture of a Jack Russell and a Pomchi and he is quite frankly the devil (in Emily’s opinion, James quite likes him). Bruce has been a huge learning curve for the couple and Emily has learned to never let her sister convince her to get a puppy ever again. Oh btw, James came up with the name Bruce, not Emily. Regardless of his many, many, many issues, they love him and he has made the couple even stronger. They love both their dogs and love to take them out for long strolls on the Beach…. which is how we got here… as one warm, sunny, early September morning, James decided to ask Emily to spend the rest of her life with him.

If you made it to the end of this story then great effort. Don’t worry, we will have a word limit on our speeches!
